The monastery on the Michaelsberg in Siegburg, which belongs to the listed monuments, was completely modernized and reconstructed. These extensive measures guarantee not only the preservation of the historic building structure but they also adjust them to modern requirements. The statics and fire protection were completely revised to make a new use possible.

At the western side of the former monastery, a modern hotel and a conference venue was constructed which has now a direct connection to the historic monastery. This innovative combination of tradition and modernity creates a unique location for guests and events. The planning and the implementation were realized with strict consideration of the rules for listed monuments and to preserve the character of the monastery.

Inside the monastery there are new elevator shafts, staircases as well as walls made of reinforced concrete and bricks. These measures do not only ensure the accessibility but also improve the functionality of the premises. The modernization of the monastery on the Michaelsberg is an important step to revitalize historic buildings and, at the same time, to create space for a contemporary use.
